Preventing Crime, Terrorism, and Problem Trends in the World

Throughout the ages every generation has been exposed to crime, violence, and other such behavior. And although every generation has tried to stop crime by punishing the criminals, the tradition of crime and criminals has not yet even been significantly reduced. But it will be and is now.

The reason why none of the conventional approaches to creating peace work is because they do not address the underlying cause—namely, the build-up of tensions and stress in individuals. Stress (impurity or malfunctioning) in the individual either causes social stress directly, or indirectly, by decisions that create social situations that are seen as unjust.

Today, most diseases, such as heart disease and stroke, are known by science to be caused or complicated by stress. In the same way, many social problems, such as crime and violence, are now known by science to be fuelled by the accumulation of stress in the body of society. And in the same way that a disease in an individual will never be cured, and good health will never be maintained, unless the causal stress is eliminated, so too, violence in society will never be stopped, and peace will never be lasting, unless the underlying social stress is eliminated.

Eliminating the Underlying Cause of Problem Trends

Maharishi’s program to create world peace works, by eliminating this more deeply rooted social stress—in particular, the ethnic and religious tensions that fuel the dangerous potential of global terrorism today. Fifty publishes studies have shown beyond scientific doubt that this same approach will help San Antonio and South and West Texas, including our border region, to become free from the societal tension that underlies so much of our local stress-related social problems.

Enlivening the Deepest Level of Nature’s Functioning

Maharishi’s program offers Vedic technologies of consciousness to enliven the deepest level of Nature’s functioning, known as the Unified Field of Natural Law in the language of modern science—or the Will of God in the language of religion. The Unified Field underlies and governs the infinite diversity of the ever-expanding universe. It is the field of PEACE in Nature. Only by enlivening this deepest field of peace in Nature can harmony ever be brought into the more expressed fields of existence—into the life of the individual and the administration of society.

Hundreds of scientific research studies conducted at 200 leading independent universities and research institutes in 33 countries have validated the effectiveness of Maharishi’s technology for creating peace in the individual and peace in society as a whole.

This research shows that only one percent of a population practicing the Maharishi Transcendental Meditation^SM technique very substantially reduces crime and other problems in society. More significantly, research has has also shown only the square root of one percent of the population of a city, state, nation, or the world practicing the more advanced TM-Sidhi^® program, including Yogic Flying, together in  one locale is enough to produce this powerful, peaceful effect for the population as a whole. For the San Antonio metropolitan area, the minimum number required is 175 people practicing the advanced TM-Sidhi program in one locale in our city. The number required to secure and maintain world peace is 8,000.

It is clear to any alert person that more intelligent and creative preventive measures, based on deeper, more powerful principles, must be used in our scientific age to eradicate terrorism and to secure peace in the world on a permanent basis. More than 40 studies and 52 demonstration projects have shown that through the group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi^® programs, it is possible to neutralize harmful influences in the consciousness of any city and country, and in world consciousness as a whole. Groups of Peace-Creating Experts will generate an influence of peace for the community and the world.

Each Peace Palace will establish a group of 200 Peace-Creating Experts, who will create a powerfully orderly influence in the whole atmosphere of the city. This is based on the abundant experience and scientific research verifying that the Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi Program^SM practiced by a group of Peace-Creating Experts has repeatedly created a powerful influence of positivity and harmony for cities all over the world, wherever and whenever it has been implemented, since studies began in 1974.

Even architectural design is involved. The architectural design of each Peace Palace is based on the ancient science of Vedic architecture—which is architecture in harmony with Natural Law. This very special and invaluable architecture is called 'Vastu.' The very shape, size and orientation and the non-toxic building materials of the Peace Palace will, itself, significantly help to promote the influence of calm and peace in our area and the world, as shown by both principles of physics such as in the field of spherical geometry, and a growing body of research evidence powerfully linking prosperity, health, and happiness to Vastu building.
